Product Description

The Gymnocalycium Japan Clone is a a rarely-seen, deep green, barrel-shaped cactus with vibrant red and yellow variegation. The variegated pattern can vary widely between individual plants, making each one a unique piece of living art. It is a relatively small cactus, typically growing to a height of around 2 to 4 inches (5 to 10 cm) and having a similar diameter. Gymnocalycium Japan Clone has a globular or spherical shape with pronounced ribs and a somewhat flattened top. This cactus cultivar usually has small, insignificant spines, and they are often absent altogether, making it safe and easy to handle.

Pot Size:

12 X 12 cm

Care Guide:

  1. Light: Provide bright, indirect sunlight for your Gymnocalycium Japan Clone. It thrives in plenty of light but should be protected from intense, direct sunlight to prevent sunburn.

  2. Temperature: Maintain temperatures between 70°F to 100°F (21°C to 38°C) during the growing season. Protect it from freezing temperatures in the winter.

  3. Watering: Water sparingly, allowing the top inch or so of the soil to dry out completely between watering sessions. Overwatering can lead to root rot.

  4. Soil: Plant your Gymnocalycium Japan Clone in a well-draining cactus or succulent soil mix to prevent waterlogging.

  5. Container: Choose a pot with drainage holes to ensure proper drainage and prevent water accumulation at the root level.

  6. Fertilizing: Fertilize sparingly during the growing season with a balanced cactus or succulent fertilizer. Dilute the fertilizer to half or quarter strength and apply it every 4-6 weeks.

  7. Pruning: Trim away any dead or damaged growth as needed to maintain the cactus's overall health and appearance.

  8. Pests and diseases: While Gymnocalycium Japan Clone is less susceptible to pests due to its lack of spines, monitor for common cactus pests and address any issues promptly with suitable treatments.

  9. Repotting: Gymnocalycium Japan Clone generally doesn't require frequent repotting. Repot only when it becomes root-bound, which might occur every 2-3 years, and choose a slightly larger pot.

  10. Handling: Be cautious when handling the Gymnocalycium Japan Clone due to its spines. Avoid touching or handling the cactus unnecessarily.
