Product Description
The Gymnocalycium Nova is a small cactus, typically growing to a height of around 3 to 4 inches (7.5 to 10 cm) and a diameter of 2 to 3 inches (5 to 7.5 cm). It has a globular or spherical shape with numerous ribs, giving it a distinctive appearance. This cactus usually features small and fine spines that emerge from the ribs. The spines can vary in color, often ranging from white to yellowish or brownish. Gymnocalycium Nova produces attractive, funnel-shaped flowers that can be pink, red, or purple in color. These blooms add to its ornamental value.

Care Guide:
-
Light: Gymnocalycium Nova thrives in bright, indirect sunlight. Place it near a sunny window where it receives ample light. However, avoid exposing it to intense, direct sunlight, as it can lead to sunburn. Providing filtered sunlight is ideal.
-
Temperature: Maintain temperatures between 70°F to 100°F (21°C to 38°C) during the growing season. Protect it from freezing temperatures in the winter.
-
Watering: Water sparingly, allowing the top inch or so of the soil to dry out completely between watering sessions. Overwatering can lead to root rot.
-
Soil: Plant your Gymnocalycium Nova in a well-draining cactus or succulent soil mix to prevent waterlogging.
-
Container: Choose a pot with drainage holes to ensure proper drainage and prevent water accumulation at the root level.
-
Fertilizing: Fertilize lightly during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced cactus or succulent fertilizer. Dilute the fertilizer to half or quarter strength and apply it every 4-6 weeks. Avoid fertilizing during the winter months.
-
Pruning: Remove any dead or damaged growth with clean, sharp pruning shears to maintain the plant's health and appearance.
-
Pests and diseases: Keep an eye out for common cactus pests and diseases. Treat any issues promptly with appropriate measures, such as neem oil or removing affected parts.
-
Repotting: Gymnocalycium Nova generally doesn't require frequent repotting. Repot when it becomes root-bound, usually every 2-3 years, and select a slightly larger pot.
-
Handling: Be cautious when handling due to its spines. Avoid touching or handling the cactus unnecessarily.
