Sweet basil is very similar to Genovese basil, and the names are often used interchangeably, though they are, in fact, two different plants. The color of the leaves is often somewhat lighter than Genovese basil, and the shape of the leaves is less rounded and more pointed. Its flavor is slightly sweeter and milder than Genovese, and it is sometimes thought to have a slight hint of anise or licorice flavor.

Seed Sowing: 
1. Fill the seedling tray with good-quality media and sprinkle with water.
2. Lightly press the media in each plug of the seedling tray to make a hole. 
3. Place the seed in each hole then lightly cover it with the media.
4. Sprinkle again with water.

Transplanting:
 1. Dig a hole in the soil and plant the seedlings.
 2. Immediately irrigate or water the seedlings after transplanting.
 3. To minimize transplanting stress, plant during cloudy days late in the afternoon.
